It’s that time of the year where the crooks that support Phyllis Peoples and her unethical actions crawl out from under the wood works to seek the support of the public to allow them to continue to be in a position to ignore issues within their parish. I have written before about Michel Claudet as I contacted Mr. Claudet not long after the issues I had with Phyllis Peoples and her incompetent actions of ignoring matters of fraud, racism, and so forth. Mr. Claudet was contacted via certified mail to ensure he receive the letter. He never did respond to my concerns of Phyllis Peoples possibly condoning the immoral and illegal actions that happened at Terrebonne General Medical Center.

A couple years ago Michel Claudet decided to spend $10,000 on a private investigation of the police department. As I sated back in 2009, Michel Claudet will only investigate if it gives him brownie points. What led to that investigation was unethical actions by Jerri Smitko, chairwoman of Terrebonne General Medical Center board.

I just read an article about Michel Claudet seeking reelection titled Michel Claudet Seeks Second Term As Parish President. I was amazed that the article was not critical of Michel Claudet in the least bit. The online article read like a three-page campaign advertisement for him. I’m not surprised at all, though. When the incidents happened with Phyllis Peoples in 2006 I wrote to the editor of the Houma Courier. I never received any response.

It’s quite obvious that Phyllis Peoples, Percy Mosely, Terrebonne Parish Government (including Michel Claudet), and The Houma Courier are all in it together. They all have each others back. This is why you cannot trust them. You cannot trust Michel Claudet to do what is right for the community (unless it makes him look good). You cannot trust the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office because they are crooked and corrupt. You cannot trust the Houma Courier because they are in it with the rest and would rarely post anything negative of those in their group. All of this makes Terrebonne Parish one large corrupt group. I believe the proper term is “organized crime.”

If you want corruption and incompetence to continue, then please vote for Michel Claudet. If you’re tired of the same games in Terrebonne Parish then I’d advise you to seek out another candidate for election.

On Monday, January 24, 2011, I went to Terrebonne General Medical Center for an MRI. TGMC has an Open MRI system. The service I received was excellent. Some may be surprised at seeing me posting something postive about Terrebonne General Medical Center. It shouldn’t be a surprise. My issue was never with every person at TGMC. My issues were with the unethical, immoral, and possibly even incompetent CEO, Phyllis Peoples. I also had issues with their former HR Director, John Ford, whom is now heading HR at Nicholls State University.

Personally, I still feel that the board of TGMC should not be trusted. Any board, person, or group of people that support Phyllis People should not be trusted.

The Louisiana government created a new website that allows people to compare healcare services and healh plans in Louisiana. I found out about this via an article on the Houma Today website. The website is www.healthfinderla.gov.

Over the years I’ve heard people complain about charity hospitals. In partifular I’ve heard many complain about Chabert (Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center). Surprisingly I’ve heard quite a big of negative comments about Terrebonne General Medical Center. I say surprised because Phyllis Peoples and her cronies stay on the ball when it comes to sweeping things under the rug and spewing out BS PR to the public,

Enough with my personal feelings towards Phylis Peoples, Terrebonne General Medical Center, et al. Let’s look at some more facts about the establishment and it’s track record.

First, there are three options to search: Hospitals, Nursing Homes, and Health Plans (see Figure 1.1)

Figure 1.1

I clicked on “Hospitals.” You then select the city you want to view. I chose Houma. Three hospitals came up:

Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center

Physicians Medical Center

Terrebonne General Medical Center

Next to each listing was a plus sign (see Figure 1.2).

Figure 1.2

You click the plus sign to add to your list. I added Terrebonne General Medical Center and Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center and then clicked “Compare Hospitals.”

The hospitals are rated upon the following “Conditions” as the website calls them.

Characteristics

Heart Attack Care

Heart Failure Care

Pneumonia Care

Surgical Care

Patient Experience

Patient Survival

Hospital Readmissions

Patient Safety

First is Characteristics. There are three criteria that are looked at:

Accreditation

Emergency Service

Hospital Type

Both facilities got a “Yes” on the first two. For the last criteria they both are listed as acute care facilities. I have a diagram that shows the results of each of the additional conditions.

Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center

Terrebonne General Medical Center

95%

97%

Heart Failure Care

97%

90%

Pneumonia Care

94%

89%

Surgical Care

97%

82%

Patient Experience

76%

62%

Patient Survival

No different than

U.S. National Rate

No different than

U.S. National Rate

Hospital Readmission

No different than

or

Number of Cases Too Small

No different than

U.S. National Rate

Chabert’s average was 91.2% and the average of Terrebonne General Medical Center was 84%. What’s amazing is Chabert is not a for-profit hospital like Terrebonne General Medical Center is. In addition, Chatbert’s is run off of State funds.

Even with all of the money and pull TGMC can’t even keep their head above the 90% water line.

Since the ruckus happened at Terrebonne General Medical Center with their former chairwoman, Jerri Smitko, I have been following the local news on HoumaToday.com. What have been reading is a mixture of things I find humorous, however, not surprising. It seems as if the cankers of corruption have been exposed. It’s like when you kick an ant pile and tons of ants come out to rebuild their mound, covering up any blemishes. This is exactly what has happened to TGMC and the Terrebonne Parish.

In the article entitled “Fracas leads to TGMC chairwoman’s resignation”, Phyllis Peoples is quoted as saying, “It had become a public issue and something they needed to know about.”1 In other words, had this not become such a “public” issue then it would have been ignored and quietly swept under the rug just as Phyllis Peoples had done in the past.

I then read two articles about the Terrebonne Parish police department. In the first one Terrebonne Parish President, Michel Claudet, reveals that he spent $10,000 of the taxpayer’s money to hire a private consultant to investigate the Terrebonne Parish police department. The next article I read is the results of the investigation, “Report paints dysfunctional picture of Houma Police Department.”

Now, if we look back at this blog and website, we will see that Phyllis People was notified by me of corruption within the hospital. However, this was sort of pointless since she is corrupt herself. I then notified the Terrebonne Parish presdient of the issues. I figured of all people he would want to know about such corruption.

In “Report paints dysfunctional picture of Houma Police Department” it states the following:

Poor organizational structure and supervision have created confusion, prompted high turnover among officers and caused morale issues, “cliques” and “bitter conflict” within the department.

Heck, this is what happened at TGMC. I’m not sure how far it went with the police department, but in my personal case, if you were not part of a clique and you had an opinion you were out on the street (courtesy of Percy Mosely escorting you). Administration didn’t care whether you actually commited the crime or violation you were accused of.

Michel Claudet completely ignored my letter. Now, after all this time the cankers of corruption have become open sores that must be tended to. Personally, as I have said in a previous post, I believe that Michel Claudet is only doing this for a horse and pony show. If he didn’t care back then about corruption within TGMC, then why is he so concerned now about corruption elsewhere within Terrebonne Parish?

I think that Phyllis Peoples and Percy Mosley need to be shown the boot. In addition, so does Michel Claudet. He cries about corruption when he could care less about it. Just as with Phyllis Peoples and all of the other hypocrites in the Terrebonne Parish system, they only get concerned when it makes them publicly look bad.

An admirer of the TGMC Revealed website sent me a link to an article on the Houma Courier’s website entitled, “TGMC board leader’s outburst sparks probe.”

Jerri Smitko, a houma attorney and chairwoman for Terrebonne General Medical Center was issued a ticket for assault of a police officer, disturbing the peace while intoxicated, and simple assault. The incident came about when a CNA refused to allow Ms. Smitko through an entrance that is clearly marked that entrance is not allowed after 8 P.M.

After the CNA refused entry to Ms. Smitko, Ms. Smitko became beligerant and allegedly threatened the CNA. The police were called and Ms. Smitko was cuffed and placed in a patrol car. Percy Mosely, Chief of Security for Terrebonne General Medical Center, attempted to have the police release Ms. Smitko from the cuffs. This includes him personally going to the patrol car and opening the door without any authorization from any of the officers. In my opinion Mr. Mosely seems to think that because he and his cheif supervisors have received law-enforcement commision from Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois, that he can do whatever he wants. Personally, I feel that Mr. Mosely should have been charged with interfering with police business.

Furthermore Mr. Mosely attempted to get the CNA to retract her charges that she decided to press on Ms. Smitko. This is a clear example of corruption not only within the hospital but within the parish itself. People like Mr. Mosely should not hold such an authorative position. These are the types of people that tote their authority on their shoulder and use it as they please, not as in accordance with the law.

This incident was a perfect example of the corruption I have spoke of on TGMC Revealed. Perhaps if Mr. Michel Claudet would have listened to me when I wrote him this might have not happened. I clearly warned Mr. Claudet of TGMC’s corruption however my warnings were ignored.

Read the full article in the Houma Courier here.

In my last post, I stated that on March 24, 2008 a certified letter was sent to Terrebonne Parish President Michel Claudet. The letter was in regards to issues about Terrebonne General Medical Center, it’s CEO (Phyllis Peoples), and their aggressive nature towards anyone that challenges them. In the post I even had the Certified Mail Receipt as evidence that the letter was sent.

It has now been over two months. May 24, 2008 made two months since the letter was sent March 25, 2008 made exactly two months since the letter was received by the Terrebonne Parish Government. I have received no emails (my personal email address was included in the letter), letters, or phone calls from President Michel Claudet or the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government.

This is truly a sad time when local governments that are paid to look out for the welfare of it’s people ignore such issues. Especially one that involves the safety and wellbeing of the local healthcare system. For anyone that voted President Michel Claudet in, this is what you have voted for: a man that could care less that your local hospital is run by a bully and an individual that is so aggressive at anyone that challenges her or the hospital. I believe that any reputable healthcare facility should not have any problems whatsoever at being challenged. If they are truly a reputable organization, then any challenge can very easily be accepted and dealt with (besides threatening multiple lawsuits at every challenger).

If you would like your voice to be heard, you can do the following:

1.) Write to President Michel Claudet

Snail Mail

Email: mhclaudet@aol.com

2.) Post your issues about Terrebonne General Medical Center on the forums here. Let your voice be heard. Don’t fear Phyllis Peoples, Terrebonne General Medical Center, or anyone else. You have the legal right to post your opinions. I will never give out your personal information no matter how many legal threats I may get. Only by an official court order will I turn over the least bit of information.

On January 21, 2008, an email was sent to Terrebonne Parish President, Michel Claudet. To date, I have received no response to my request for President Claudet and the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government look in to the unethical and diabolical actions of Terrebonne General Medical Center CEO, Phyllis Peoples.

Yesterday, I sent a certified letter addressed to the attention of President Claudet. This will be the last correspondence I send. Because of the childish actions of Ms. Phyllis Peoples (i.e. claiming harassment just because I sent her a letter) I have become leery and will not engagne in begging him to do what is right. It is for this reason that I sent the letter via certified mail. This way, visitors to this website can read the letter as well as see physical proof that the certified letter was sent.

It is my hopes that President Claudet looks in to this matter. If he does not, then I can only feel for the Terrebonne Parish community. Below is a scan of the certified receipt I received from the U.S. Postal Service. You can view the letter I sent by clicking here. These documents are also available in the “Evidence” section of the website.

Yesterday I sent an email to the new Terrebonne Parish President, Michel Claudet. After almost three months I never received any response from the former Terrebonne Parish President, Don Schwab. It is my hopes that the current Terrebonne Parish President will be more active in responding to this matter.

The reason why I initially contacted the Terrebonne Parish government is to hopefully open their eyes to the true nature of Terrebonne General Medical Center and Phyllis Peoples. It seems that the Terrebonne Parish government as well as other organizations and individuals hold Terrebonne General and Phyllis Peoples in such high regard. I believe this is because people either don’t know the truth about them or they are too afraid to speak out against them. After all, anyone that speaks out against Phyllis Peoples or Terrebonne General Medical Center are bound to get threatened with a lawsuit. This is one of the most popular ways Phyllis Peoples tries to silence the truth about her and the organization she represents.

The second letter was a follow-up letter to the Louisiana Board of Nursing. On July 25, 2007, I filed a complaint against Cheryl Dufrene, RN and Carla Edgar, RN for passing along a lie to Terrebonne General Medical Center administrative personell. The lie cost me my job and caused me to be escorted off of the propery by sercurity. The letter was requesting an update on whether the matter had been looked in to or not.
